Every WilCo town has a signature weekend, and together they make the county calendar — anchored by the festival that gives Georgetown its identity. Dates shift slightly each year; months don't. Here's the year as locals live it.

Red Poppy Festival — Georgetown, late April. The county's signature event, held on the courthouse square (the 27th annual ran April 24–26, 2026) — three days of live music, a Saturday parade, 150+ artisan vendors, and family activities, all free to attend with free downtown parking, the new garage, and school shuttles. The backstory is the best part: red poppies came to Georgetown when WWI soldier Henry Purl Compton mailed seeds home to his mother on East Seventh Street; they spread through Old Town, and the whole city bloomed into "the Red Poppy Capital of Texas." Two Step Inn — Georgetown, April. The big-ticket country music festival at San Gabriel Park — national headliners, two days, and the county's largest music weekend.
Deutschen Pfest — Pflugerville, May. Pflugerville's German-heritage festival: music, dachshund races, carnival, and the pfun-with-a-pf branding the town commits to completely.
Frontier Days — Round Rock, July 4th. Old Settlers Park's Independence Day tradition — and most county cities run their own fireworks the same week, so nobody drives far. Liberty Hill's Independence Day celebration carries the small-town version with the best name fit in the county.
Georgetown Market Days runs monthly on the square all summer (see the farmers market guide), and the splash-pad-and-river season is its own event: Blue Hole Park in Georgetown is the county's swimming-hole postcard.
Hutto Olde Tyme Days — October. The 41st annual runs Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Co-op — car show, live music into the night, pie-eating contest, and free admission. Hutto's history and hippo statues on full display. Details →
Pfall Chili Pfest — Pflugerville, October. The chili cookoff answer to spring's Pfest.
Round Rock Chalk Walk — October. Downtown Round Rock's street-art festival, when the pavement becomes the gallery.
Georgetown Christmas Stroll — first weekend of December. The square in full holiday dress — lighted parade, vendors, and the courthouse lighting that fills every local feed. The new downtown garage has made parking survivable.
Rock'N Lights — Round Rock, November–January. The drive-through holiday light trail at Old Settlers Park — the county's easiest festive win with kids in pajamas.
The local pattern: pick your town's signature weekend and adopt it (it's the fastest way a new resident becomes a local), check official pages in the weeks prior since dates and parking plans shift annually, and know that the big Georgetown events (Red Poppy, the Stroll) reward arriving early and eating on the square before the crowds decide the same thing.
